MIRADOR ALASPUNGO
On the way to Alaspungo one goes discovering in the landscape part of what exist in Cruz Loma, called so because of the crossroad which form a large cross on the way.
Already at the top, the spectacular 360º view offers a singular landscape. The Pichincha volcano and its active crater nearby, the Western cordillera stands majestic showing their impressive water streams, originated by the volcano intense work from so many centuries ago and there appeared as small dots in a gigantic map, Nanegalito, La Armenia , Santa Elena, Los Bancos, and at the other side Cotacachi, showing us the way to Imbabura, the Cayambe mountain supplements the impressive spectacle. Perhaps the only thing which breaks harmony is the recent construction of a large TV signal antenna that reminds us the reality of modernity.

LA MERCED SPRING

VERTIENTES LA MERCED
La Merced Farm was one of the most important, since from its fertile lands were obtained a large variety of products typical from the sierra, but there was much more than this: mineral and thermal waters that the clergy men used to relief their pains. Now, there are few people going there, attracted either by its heat, energy, strong sulfur smell, the use its natural gas mostly for beverage industry and of course their curative properties that along with the simple natural landscape make them ideal for a weekend adventure.
